The Kroo app is available for mobile devices only. We support devices running the official, stable releases of iOS and Android as distributed by Apple and Google. Functionality on beta, preview, rooted, or otherwise modified operating systems is not guaranteed.

Supported versions of the app:
Android iOS

Version 7 and above.

Version 8 and above from 1st December 2025

Version 15.1 and above.

Version 16.1 and above from 1st December 2025

You can find information about your current operating system in the Settings of your phone.

Why don't we support 'jailbroken' or 'rooted' devices?

A ‘jailbroken’ or ‘rooted’ device is one where software restrictions set by the manufacturer have been removed. This allows modifications that are not supported by the manufacturer and can in turn make the device more vulnerable. We don’t support these devices, at any time, as they present additional security risks to both your device and the Kroo app.

Why do we only support a certain number of versions?

We take into consideration multiple things when determining app support:

  • The tools we use to build the app only support a certain number of versions of the app. Over time, we need to upgrade these tools to ensure that the app stays secure.
  • When Google and Apple stop supporting OS versions themselves. After they stop support, there’s no guarantee they will fix any security issues found on that version, which can leave that device less secure.

When we remove support for a version.

We will raise the minimum supported version of Android and iOS every year by 1. This means that the minimum supported version will increase to the next available one, e.g. from iOS 8 to iOS 9. This will happen on the date listed in the ‘Supported Versions of the App’ table above, or shortly after.

We monitor whether your device meets the minimum supported version criteria. If we identify that the version you are using is below the new minimum threshold, we will notify you of this at least two months in advance, and ask you to take action. This would typically require you to upgrade your operating system, or use a different, supported device with the Kroo app.

If you decide not  to upgrade the operating system or the device, the Kroo app will stop working on your device shortly after the minimum supported version has been increased. This does not apply to ‘jailbroken’ or ‘rooted’ devices which are not supported at any time.

Occasionally, we may also have to raise our minimum supported version outside of this yearly schedule. We’ll still give you at least two months' notice when this happens.

What happens when your OS version is no longer supported?

When this happens, the Kroo app will no longer function. You won't be able to log-in or manage your account, and please note that we don't currently support telephone banking (meaning our customer support teams won't be able to help you with the day to day management of your account over the phone).

Once this happens, you'll have three options:

  1. Upgrade the OS version you are using, if you're able to.
  2. Change the device you’re using to access the Kroo app.
  3. Close your Kroo account.

You can always contact our support team via email at support@kroo.com if you have any questions.

How you can check if you can upgrade?

For iOS devices, you can follow the instructions here, and you can see which devices support iOS 16.1 here.

For Android devices, you can follow these instructions, or search for instructions on the website of your phone manufacturer.
