For most of the accounts, we need the following details:
- Sort code
- Account number
- Payee’s first and last name
Some accounts may require additional reference called Secondary Reference Data (SRD) to be entered, so the bank can apply the payment to the right account after making the check. For example, SRD may include:
- A 16-digit credit card number (when you’re paying off your credit card bill)
- A roll number (when you’re making a payment to some building society accounts)
When a customer attempts a payment to such accounts, the Confirmation of Payee check will use the reference to ensure the account name is correct. If the details are invalid or not recognised, the customer will be informed and asked to check the details they’ve entered.
We don’t support the Confirmation of Payee checks that require Secondary Reference Data yet, so if you attempt to make a payment to an account requiring a secondary reference – when the SRD is needed you won’t see a field to enter it in-app, so we won't be able to complete the name check or the outbound payment. However, our team is working hard to introduce this feature soon.
